The company's owner, Michael Piscitelli, is an Electronics Engineer with a Master's Degree in Computer Science. Michael has been working in the automotive and aerospace industry for 18 years, developing electronics and software systems for many of the key automotive and aerospace lighting companies domestically and abroad. As the sponsor of the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineering) J1330 Photometric Laboratory Accuracy Document and active member of many SAE J-documents committees and task forces, he is committed to the progress of technology in the photometric industry.
Ron Wathan - Lab Manager ron.wathan@sapphirests.com
Ron Wathan is our Lab Manager and brings a wealth of experience to Sapphire Technical Solutions. Before coming to STS, Ron worked for 22 1/2 years in the automotive lighting industry. His main responsibilities are performing equipment and light source calibrations, product testing, acquiring and maintaining laboratory accreditations and assisting with the design, development and implementation of test systems.
Ron’s interests outside the office include horses and hunting. He and his wife Sharon enjoy attending Nascar races and many other sporting events when the opportunity presents itself. At the top of Ron’s list of hobbies is his woodworking. Apparently his talents extend beyond the Lab. The Piscitelli children can attest to his skill building rocking horses! Some hobbies can turn into major projects and so has Ron’s. He has spent his free time for the last three years remodeling his now beautiful home.
With all these activities he and his wife still find time to visit friends and family in Illinois and enjoy grand-kids.

Alan Travers joined the STS team in early 2008. He comes to us with a BSME, and over 11 years of combined experience in the automotive and fiber optics industries. He is married and has one son in elementary school and identical twin boys in preschool. Alan enjoys playing soccer, sand volleyball, and riding motorcycles. His other interests include watching football and motorcycle racing and coaching his son's soccer team As a Project Manager for STS, he greatly broadens our design, prototyping, and production skills.

Cindy joined the STS team in January 2009. She is originally from Southern West Virginia, but has lived in the Charlotte area for 19 years. She has a BS/BA from West Virginia University and obtained her CPA certificates from West Virginia and North Carolina. While she does have public accounting experience, the majority of her business back ground is in managing a small business.
Cindy has a son in elementary school, step daughter in middle school and a step son in college. Some of her other interests are scrapbooking, as well as PTA and Church activities. She and her husband enjoy the opportunities and activities available in the Charlotte area as well as keeping up with their children's many activities.
